Know the Right Time to Trim
The best time to trim trees is during their dormant season, typically in late fall or winter. During this period, trees are less vulnerable to stress, and trimming is less likely to cause harm. However, dead or damaged branches can be trimmed at any time. Avoid trimming during peak growth seasons, as this can stunt growth and increase the risk of pest infestations.
Use Proper Tools
For clean cuts in tree trimming, always use sharp and appropriate tools. Hand pruners are great for small branches, while loppers work for medium-sized branches. For larger branches, use a pruning saw. Ensure all tools are clean and disinfected before use to prevent the spread of disease. Dull tools can cause jagged cuts, which take longer to heal and invite pests or diseases.
